About Us

Evelyn K.Blasi, M.Ed.

Evelyn grew up in Queens, New York. She attended college upstate NY, majoring in Mathematics, where she met her former husband. Her first job in NYC was as a computer programmer, after which she decided to go into education and teach. She taught several years, got her Master’s in Education, and then she and her husband decided that it would be best for her to be a stay at home mom. Several of her then husband’s job changes took them from NYC to Buffalo and then to Atlanta. Four children and 24 years later, her husband announced to her that he was divorcing her. It was a moment in time that she will never forget. It was as if time froze right there, and horror and shock consumed her. This was a completely new world full of unknown and strange terminology and procedure. Her husband was the lawyer and she felt abandoned, rejected and totally alone. Evelyn had to find an attorney and get going, as this was her new reality. She was determined to learn as much as she could to get a fair settlement. Evy worked relentlessly to understand the process and gather great amounts of information. During these long two years of divorce proceedings she had to change lawyers and start all over again, plus endure two weeks of jury trial. Her divorce was one of the most difficult financially, physically and emotionally. As a result of all the work she did and good legal representation, and at that point a 26 yr marriage, the jury awarded her life alimony. For that she is forever thankful.

Divorce is not only about money, but about children, stress and the rest of your life. After the divorce she was determined to use what she had learned to help others going through the same things. She became a Georgia State Registered Neutral and does mediations. She also works one on one with people going through divorce helping them plan and prepare for the divorce. That is the reason for this book, so that Evy can empower you and help you understand all that you will go through. The more you know about the process of divorce the more it will enable you to get a fair settlement.
